Guido Joeris

Guido Joeris is a German drummer, arranger, singer and producer.

At the age of 6 Guido began learning to play drums and classical percussion and went on to study music at Cologne University in 1989.
Since 1984 he has worked with innumerable rock, pop and jazz groups in Germany, Europe and beyond.

After touring with Chaka Kahn in 1995, he published some of his compositions which were performed by artists including Toots Thielemanns, Michael Brecker and Ernie Watts. During this time he also started to work as an arranger and producer, and began working with various popular German artists.

He began teaching in 1993, initially at the Drummers Institute (Germany), later as a lecturer for drums and band-leading at the Mainz University of Music and then from 2010 to 2019 at the Osnabrück University of Music. He is frequently invited to teach at big band workshops throughout Germany.

He has been musical director for German Rock´n´Roll legend Peter Kraus since 2001, has worked as a session singer for several recording studios and was a member of the “Cologne Voices”, who made regular appearances with radio bands such as WDR Big Band, HR Big Band or WDR Funkhaus Orchestra.

Guido has been a professional musician for over 30 years and has recorded with, written and arranged for and produced more than 120 international artists. He is currently drummer and project-orientated MD and arranger for the four-time Grammy® nominated SWR Big Band.
